Welcome to the BTR Liverpool 10 Miler which is being run alongside the BTR Liverpool Half Marathon.
As many of you may know the Liverpool Half Marathon is the longest established road race in the city and a new race distance of 10 miles was introduced to encourage 10K runners and perhaps some less experienced runners to try an intermediate distance on the way to a half marathon. It has proved more than popular with both previous years being sold out.
It's a classic distance to race and there are not that many, as most race events tend to focus on either 10K or half marathon formats.
The structure of the Liverpool Half Marathon course lends itself to delivering a 10 mile distance without the course becoming over complicated.
The event plan is expected to set both half marathon and 10 mile runners off at the same time with 10 milers performing a U- turn on Aigburth Drive (for those of you familiar with the course) at the roundabout to miss out the Sefton Park section.
All finishers will receive a goody bag, medal and 10 Miler Finishers T-Shirt.
Please Note: There is a limit of 750 places for the 10 Mile Road Race and they will be allocated on a first come first served basis.
PARK USE CHARGES
In recent years BTR has sought to keep entry fees for the half marathon at a minimum but shortly before the 2019 event we were advised by Liverpool City Council that there would be a charge for use of the city's parks and open spaces.
The charge for running through the public open spaces for the 2019 event was £3,850 and this will apply once again in 2020.
It should be pointed out that these park use charges now apply to all events that 'use' parks so you may well find that either entry fees increase in other events, they move location or they disappear altogether.
As a consequence - and with other event service providers increasing their costs it is unfortunately necessary to increase the entry fees for both the half marathon and 10 mile road race for 2020.
There are four water stations along the course at approximately 3, 6, 9 and 12 miles as well as the finish and toilets are located at each water station.
