The runway at Liverpool John Lennon Airport usually only has the rubber of aircraft tyres running along it, but on one night in May, it will be the rubber on the soles of the feet of around 400 runners from across the region that will be pounding along the runway when the Airport becomes the location of a 5k charity run with a difference.
The event is sponsored by Liverpool Airport Holidays and is being organised by employees at the Airport to help raise donations for its charity and corporate partner, Alder Hey Children’s Charity through its #LJLALoves Alder Hey campaign to help make Alder Hey Hospital a truly world class patient-friendly hospital for the 330,000 patients and families they care for every year.
As the Airport is busy for around 20 hours each day, the event is to be staged in the early hours of Friday morning on 8th May, with runners lining up for the start at 3.30am.

Prior to your run, you will be provided with a Zumba warm up by the Airport Firefighters.

Liverpool John Lennon Airport has already raised more than £173,000 for Alder Hey since 2016 and with 400 runners expected to participate in this unique event, the Airport hopes to reach its £200k target. Please find more information on how they have fundraised for #LJLALoves Alder Hey here.
Please pay special attention to the terms and conditions presented to you upon sign up. Due to the nature of the Airport site, security and safety of others is our upmost priority. Therefore, you must abide by all the guidelines. Failure to do this will result in you being unable to take part in the Run.
Complimentary parking will be available onsite for all participants, from the main airport approach road (Speke Hall Avenue) please follow the signs for ‘Park Smart’ which is signed on the overhead gantry on your approach to the airport terminal.
Airport staff will be on hand to guide you through the car park but please make your way to the rear of the car park and park in any available bay. Transport will be available from the rear of the car park to transfer you to the runway for the event, and will return you to the car park once finished. Airport staff will once again be available to guide you safely out of the car park.
